Tue, 08 May 2012 07:20:30 GMTI live in Misawa, Japan, I own a Harley Davidson Sportster, 1200cc, and I have to go down to Tokyo to get it tested for emissions before I can ride it on the Air Force Base. I would like to know if there is anything I can do to improve the emissions output from the bike to improve my chances of it passing the test. I have just re-jetted the carburetor for the change in altitude (I moved from Tucson, Arizona to Japan about a year ago, and it hasn't seen the road since then) and it is running like a dream right now. I asked this same question on Yahoo Answers and someone told me to put 5% ctc in the petrol tank? He didn't explain further however. Someone else told me to basically tune-up the bike by changing the air filter and jump the spark plugs up to the next heat level. Any information anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

We are leaving at zero dark thirty Wednesday the 25th. It is a 300 mile run give or take across the Mojave Desert. Temps should be in the high 80's to mid 90's. #1 son is riding with us, his wife and baby are following in the chase car. She is preggy with #2 grandchild so her partying will be at a minimum.
