Back off whips Got pulled over yesterday for having a whip on my handlebars , among other things. The officer was nice and very respectfull but said that the whip was illeagal due to the length, he said it's new in the vehicle code. I couldnt find it, and other officers I ask say they have heard of that but don't know. I know there is the injunction against flying colors but that is fed and mine is all black. Anyone heard of this or have been cited for this ?

Re: Back off whips No ticket it was orange county sheriffs, just checking me out. normally would write it off as b.s. but asked a deputy at work he said he's heard of it. not worried about the locals more so if it is a law then highway patrol will cite for it.

Re: Back off whips some of my club brothers have them, it is a decoration as far as I am concerned.. sides a pebble or ball bearing in your vest pocket works better , less obvious and heck.. a rock must of came up off road and cracked that windshield.. not like I hit it with a whip or something... not that I have ever done something like that to some a$$hole that came into my lane or anything, just a thought. __________________ RESPECTFULLY, Renegade S.R.F.F.S.R. ![]() Patched Bikers Know True Brotherhood

Re: Back off whips I have a handful of quarters in my vest pocket. They are also a great 'emergency' fund if you run out of paper money. =) maverick __________________ '04 Low Rider BUB by Rinehart staggered SE AC SE 95" kit SE Heads S&S 510G cams Lifetime DAV ![]()

| Re: Back off whips I don't know if it's illegal or not but I could see how it may be unsafe for the rider. A couple of weeks ago I was teaching a Ride Like A Pro class and one of the riders had one on his dresser. I suggested he take it off and he declined. He said that since he rides ALL the time with it, he wanted to practice with it. He was a good rider and during one of the exercises he had the bike leaned way over while making a nice tight turn. That whip got caught between the ground and the floorboard and pulled him right down. He was okay but it scuffed his front fairing. He took it off for the rest of the class but reinstalled it just before leaving the range. Now that may NEVER happen to him again ever, but I'm not willing to take a chance, expecially when making a u-turn on the street in traffic. Folks are going to do exactly what they are going to do, can't change that. Quote:

Re: Back off whips Thanks all Guess I will go back to spare spark plugs. Yes its on there more for decoration than anything, just another freedom taken away. Ironhorse I can see that happening gave me something to think about as I was thinking of going to a longer one.
