Harley Davidson XR1200

Some off the press news:

<begin>
"We have just attended the first press conference at the 2006 Intermot in Cologne. Harley-Davidson showed a new XR 1200
based on the air-cooled Sportster 1200 engine. New is down draft fuel injection, chassis, sporty pipes and loads of
ground clearance. performance are between 85-90bhp and around 75ftlb according to Harley-Davidson. The bike also gets an
electronically controlled active air intake system. All in ode to the XR 750 flat tracker. More info later."

Re: Harley Davidson XR1200

It's not too late to sell your Triumph, and go back to Harley.

Re: Harley Davidson XR1200

Looks like a decent design, but is that the best they
could do with those pipes.....I'm sorry but those
are not attractive on that bike...it needs a more drastic
departure from the normal HD exhaust. IMHO

I agree about the pipes but remember this is a European designed bike and there noise rules are a lot stricter than here in the good old US of A

Re: Harley Davidson XR1200

Yeah...you make a good point , but they just seem so...
"the same ol HD".....on a bike like this I think they should
at least gone for some style points or somthin, maybe
a couple of big cans off both sides, I guess a bit more
"sportbike". Still it is kinda cool.

Re: Harley Davidson XR1200

i kinda like it. the exhaust is a little ugly but so are most exhaust systems, so the pipes are a wash as long as it helps performance. it's about time they start stepping up to the plate and come up with something other than the same ole humdrum crap that can't get out of it's own way. with the 96in big twins and now if this will enter our market there would probably be a lot more people interested in hd's.

well that's how i see it anyway.

Re: Harley Davidson XR1200

Shovel13, I do agree with you the MOCO is waayy overdue
for some serious design changes, they really need to take
it up a notch or two. Maybe this is a start...

Re: Harley Davidson XR1200

lets hope so Biscuit. the moco has the ability to produce some great bikes that not only go fast but corner as well. the Nova project could have been a hell of a start in that direction but they choose the evo instead to develop to it's full potential.
