move

As life would have it...the wife and I have had to move back into Portland!
because of the currant economy we had to make a tough choice.
The cost for me to travel into Portland for work, staying in a motel and the like was costing to much.
We got an offer through a friend to manage an apartment complex in Portland...it works out well. my wife gets a small salary and we get a FREE two bedroom apt, utilities, cable, a garage, and the like all paid for.
it works out well...I get paid to do the maintenance here and I get to work outside of here at my regular job... just banking my monies! in three years we will return back home at the coast.
we both miss living on the coast... our home is there and we aint...but its only three years for our return.
I guess some dreams have to wait. Portland aint all that bad...just a hell of allot more idoits in cages...Aaaahhh, I mean that with love.
so if any of yous local members in Portland are up for a ride... let me know.

Best of luck to you, I just cannot imagine how much bullshit you will have to put up with managing an apt. complex. Well, actually I can. I live in a small condo complex and I run the board of directors. Have you ever managed apts before?

Hey AP,
Thanks. we did many years ago back in 93... we lasted 3 months a swore we would never do it again. this time it is different. only 30 units (not 70) that have been well maintained prior to our arrival. the wife collects the rent and other small office duties. there is a company that handles all the other bullshit.
we have been here for a month already and the maintenance is minor.
it was funny to see the reaction of the residents when I ripped up on my harley... a biker manager...(what the fuck?)... its all good. they seem to respect us and us them.
only time will truly tell... we will make the best of it for now. if we cant deal with it a year from now, we will split back home to the coast.

Re: move

well if you kept your house you could either use it as a get away place on the coast when you want a weekend off , or use it as a rental for 3 years
either way good luck on the APT mgt job , my wife did that for 20+ years with her 1st husband
