| Re: Road Manners Proper thing to do in that situation would be to move to the right, slow down a bit and wave him on by. If the knucklehead don't get it by then fuck him, I would just slow down to a point where he gets frustrated and passes. Back in my dirt biking days we had a way of dealing with riders who were all over your ass. It was called the Brake Check. Usually resulted in the guy behind you falling down. Something like that on the street though could possibly fatal to both riders. AP __________________ |

| Re: Road Manners I agree with ya AP...but in this case 101 north of Rockaway has very few straits to pull to the right... lots of turns... and rough roads, plus the dude was to the right of me, about four clicks back. in after thought...I guess I should have pulled over and stoped somewhere and let this dude go by.... but being from ye old way, I thought no he is tagin' me.... he can go screw himself. seriously I would have tried to make it clear that I wanted the guy to pass me --- dudes like that are annoying and dangerous. Out here I get a lot of sportbikers who will ride up on your azz - I just wave them by... __________________

| Re: Road Manners Howdy Folks, Yup, it's a bad scene all around and over the years I run in to a lot of this. Most of the time it is just someone that is inexperienced and emulating the crap they see on TV/movies. I usually just stop, most of the time they will stop too; then tell them the ground rules. In my 45 years of riding I only told one guy that if he didn't get away from me yesterday I would kill him. One thing I never agree to is riding side by side with a stranger and even some guys that I've known for years. Always tell the inexperienced to take the point. Almost everyone I've met on the road and travailed with for a while has become a pleasure to ride with and know. Best to all, Pixs ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________ Best wishes, Pixs |

| Re: Road Manners after 9 days at Tahoe, rode back to Bakersfield last Saturday, July 11. Great fun at the lake, as rode all over the area. No reason to get anymore t-shirts, but got a good one at the Bucket of Blood Casino in Virginia City. Gambling was just about even until the last hand, 4-5-6-7-8, and all were spades. Well, with quarters, $63 profit. Rode back on the mountains. Markleeville, then a biciycle race, so back to 88, Minden, NV. Down 395, Sonora Pass, 49 to Oakhurst, 41 to Fresno, then 99 to Bako. Grat luch in Coarsegold, and a shoot up, with floosies, 4 shooters. Very well done, and wish they would have come into the saloon after as they were selling tickets to raise funds for a trip to Tombstone, AZ. Heard ClaimJumper Bike Club, but not sure. Only bad thing: on the way down from the pass, on a right curve, about 30? Harleys were going up. They were going speedy, but no problem until one in the middle came about 15 inches across the stripe in the middle. Well, i coulda slapeed the rider, and sometime I am gonna put those ball bearings in my pocket. Don't want to make anyone mad but the rider that couldn't control the bike was a female as I saw it. All of us are responsible for what we do, but if you take someone who can't handle the speed you are riding, make 'em ride in the back and wait for them evry few miles or whatever you decide. The bike was about 10 inches away when we went past. Long way home, and didn't need an idiot to ruin it. |
