It's genetic, I think. That is why we find our brothers on the road.

I also had an Evo Ultra (1989) before my twincam, always felt underpowered to me with the 80'' Evo after having an FXR Superglide hotted up a bit.
The TC had enough umph even with the stock 88" to get down the highway a lot better, with the 95'' build I have now it really moves. (105hp/110tq)
Yeah Momma loves that easy chair on the back,it's that and all the hard storage why I got into EG's in the first place,if I only rode solo I'd still be on the old Super.
I do love the reliability of a well set up TC though,I have 160,000 miles on my '00 FLHTC and it's never made me walk.

Cool,a lot of the '70's Shovels didn't see 10K-20K without coming apart, sounds like you got one of the good ones.
I've seen a few make 100K with just some gaskets and regular "tightening up" but a lot more with a whole new top end at 20K.

Sounds like you've got things figured out. :-) I'm kind thinking about something like this... It should keep me AND the OL happy for many miles.

Yup, she needed some top end work before 20k but with that done and a new cam, S&S carb, pipes, custom paint, new 20" wheel and Wideglide front end, and she is still lookiing and running great. Not as fast as the new bikes, but still mighty fine. :-)

That's a nice ride but I gotta say there's no way I'd go without my batwing,
of course I live in the PAC NW where you can have 6 seasons in the same day before noon.
