Help...How To Overcome The Fear From Last Accident???

Dear Biker Fellows:

Can someone here help me or guide me on overcome the fear when the road turn? Since the last accident that I have experienced, I always fear when I see the roads turn. What I have to do is just slow my speed down. Sometime my friends said "Why you are riding too slow?". Exactly the speed that I ride my bike is still excees the limit; but they all ride faster than mind.

I used to ride my bike very fast with no fear either straingline or curse; but since I have the accident...I fear. How to overcome this fear? I did not get hurt or anything (lucky me to be able to ride another day); but my bike totally lost claimed by my insurance.

When I reach at the curse road, I seem to forget or comfuse either just do the pushing or pushing with the whole body turn to a different verse to the road condition? Can someone help me?

I am enjoy riding the bike so much; but I tent to drop the speed down a lot. Like I said sometime the people I ride with complain about my speed. Even those I ride over the regular speed limit; especially at the curse road. I still have the fear of losting the bike control. Help...help...to get back my emotion to normal.

I am looking forward to hear from someone here with good tip and advice. Keep the two wheels rolling hard.

Ride your own ride, look farther into the curve for your apex and exit; easy, steady slow in and power out. Perhaps spending time riding alone will help you regain the confidence without the pressure of riding beyond your comfort level with friends.

Re: Help...How To Overcome The Fear From Last Accident???

Thanks...Guy, you are all awnsome. It has been very helpful to me. I guess the most important thing is to ride by myself at my own pace. I have noticed myself each day I am out to ride, I seem to gain my confident back. I just have to slow down a little big. My problem is on the road turning left. I try to use my old school technique on pushing method. I knew that I still have a little problem on using my left hand to push.

Again thank you all for supporting me. Please keep the two wheel rolling hard.

Find the location of the Motorcycle Foundation Safety Course. Talk to the instructors. Tell them why you are there. Take the course. Take it several times. This will give you time in a controlled environment to get over the feelings you have.

Re: Help...How To Overcome The Fear From Last Accident???

You've already gotten some great advise here,I'll just add to not worry what your friends think, they must not be very experienced riders if the are pushing you to go faster, that or not very good friends, they should know better.
I would never suggest to another rider to try and keep up,every rider needs to be in their own comfort zone to be safe.
Maybe one of them will be the next crash victim and then they'll see the light.
Hopefully that is if they survive,I wouldn't wish a crash on anyone,it's just that when I hear a story like this I see an accident waiting to happen.
Best of luck, just get on that pony and ride ride ride,it'll come back after a while.

Re: Help...How To Overcome The Fear From Last Accident???

Thanks guys for your all encouragement. That is what I would like to hear. Each day I am out to ride, I feel little confident and gain my ride trust back. I knew I can do it again. I just bought myself "A Ride Like A Pro V DVD". I have watched it over and over again. The bottom line that I need someone to be with me during practice. Most of these techniques are very difficult since I have not done that close move with the fast speed. I will keep try. I love to ride bike.

Again thank you for your support and encouragement. That is all I need. Good luck with your ride. You all are awsome.

You need to understand countersteering and practice it regularly. Practice it so much that you no longer think about it. As you do your confidence will grow. I've always believed that a large portion of proficient and safe motorcycling is confidence. After your accident your confidence took a shot. So practice regularly under controlled conditions until your confidence comes back.

Taking an advanced course will help bolster your confidence and improve your skills and ability.

Re: Help...How To Overcome The Fear From Last Accident???

Thanks...Guys...You are awson and helpful. Yes, I just have to keep riding at my own paste until my confident comes back. Each day of riding I felt better about myself and my ability. It seems my fear goes away each time I ride. I learned the most important of riding is FEAR is the Key factor. Once I overcome my fear, my riding is getting better. Some of you may not understand what I went through, yet. Once you experienced the the bike accident, the fear will always there with you.

Again thank you everyone here who encourage me to continue the fun of riding the bike. I love doing it...it is my passion about 10 years. You are awsome. Keep the two wheel rolling.
