Rolling Viet Nam War Memorial

My riding partners and I took a trip to Wickenburg, AZ Saturday morning to visit the Rolling Viet Nam War Memorial. I have been to Washington, D.C. once to see the wall for myself several years ago. Having a few years of service myself, I could only imagine the pain and sacrifice these families and heroes of America endured.
The rolling memorial was placed in the city park surrounded by several hundred respectful vets, citizens, children, and family.Several continued to shed tears for the service men and women who did not return.
The both visits were very somber experiences.
I pray for the safe return of those in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other remote places all around the world as they represent and protect the citizens in the United States.
Of course, this memorial was escorted into the community by a couple hundred bikers who are patriots and prior servicemembers. The rolling wall will be visiting a couple other places in Arizona in the next month or so. I am so glad there are people out there who never let us forget about the men and women who sacrifice for our many freedoms we enjoy in America.

Re: Rolling Viet Nam War Memorial

I know what you mean, my wife and I went when it was in San Diego a few years back, I was look ing for some friends on the wall and one of the guys, a helo pilot was a friend of my family, this lady that was helping there asked who I was looking for, when I gave her Lees name, she said what? that's my father, needless to say we both lost it, I havn't cried that hard in years, would love to take my wife to D.C. to the wall and the Marine Corps museum. Re: Rolling Viet Nam War Memorial

The big traveling wall was at the HD Dealership in Vegas for the month of March. We rode down there last Saturday.

I started to ask about a friend who we all called "Corky" and I could not remember his first name. The person kept looking and asking for his first name, I got a little weirded out so I skipped that and just got a T-shirt.

I looked over at the Iraq and Afghanistan areas and just felt overwhelmed. I guess it just never ends.

VA health care is one of my 'things' and I am very active writing congressmen and wherever to get what we deserve and were promised especially for new people that are not in the system yet.

Re: Rolling Viet Nam War Memorial

I’ve been to see the rolling wall twice here in California and it was definitely a moving experience. Since I have no desire to or intend to visit D.C. I am grateful for the rolling wall.

Re: Rolling Viet Nam War Memorial

The Rolling Wall was here a few years ago and I rode with the Olympia Hog Chapter down to Rochester where it was set up. It is very moving and I just hate it that we keep having to add new names for those dear people lost to the current "conflict". It makes my heart hurt. I am sorry to all of the folks out there that have lost a loved one. My prayers of peace go out to all of you.
