Re: For the veterans

Thanks for the forum! I'm a vet of 10 years in the Navy from 82~92. I spent most of my time running around Asia. Seen that part of the world top to bottom, in & out. Was stationed on the USS Blue Ridge (awesome ship), spent 6 years on shore duty In Subic Bay, Philippines, and ended up on the oldest rust bucket in the navy the USS Praire. I rode that one out to Desert Storm. I wanted to stay for 20 yrs but I got hitched and that changed everything.

Re: For the veterans

I've been in for 10 years now, two marriages...so I'm married to the Navy now. I was on the USS CONSTELLATION for 5 years, 3 years on shore duty in San Diego, and on I'm on the USS NIMITZ. I'm thankful for the chance to serve my country.

I used to be that outlaw biker that everybody stayed clear of, doing lots of drugs and doing things that your mother will never know about.

I've been clean for 11 years now and I respect myself and others a lot more.

Re: For the veterans

Coming up on 11 years of Active Duty. U.S. Army grunt here...spent my career in the Mechanized Infantry as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle Crewman, Infantry squad leader, and Master Gunner at fine locales such as Ft Hood, TX; Camp Hovey, Korea; and Ft Benning, GA. Later on, I got involved with the Stryker Program as an instructor when that was still in its infancy. I stuck with that for three years and found myself on extended Temporary Duty to Ft Lewis, WA; Ft Richardson, AK; Yuma Proving Grounds, AZ; and a very short stay back at Ft Hood. I helped train the Army's first three Stryker Brigade Combat Teams. I'm currently a Sergeant First Class assigned to a reserve unit in the bay area as the operations NCO in a Brigade-level staff. Hooah!

Re: For the veterans

I just want to say THANK YOU!, for all those who have served and those who are serving now. I believe in this great Nation and I believe in Freedom. Everytime I ride my Harley on the Highways of America, it reminds me of what Freedom feels like and what it Costs. I will never take it for granted, it's unfortunate that some do. Yes, I honorably served my Country, your Country. THANK YOU!!!

Re: For the veterans

Stebo, I was on the Prairie same time you were and did the '92 WESTPAC. I was an HT2 in R-6 up in the NDT lab. I am 5 monthes out from retiring and am currently serving aboard USS John C Stennis CNV 74 as the Hull Tech Chief. My relief is already here and my papers are in. Been a good run but time to let the next group take over.
