Steve, I have a pretty good memory and I do vaguely remember you. I was a second when I was on the Prairie and worked up in the NDT lab on the boat deck under the Starboard B&A crane. I knew Carpenter and Pierce pretty well and worked with HT2s Lebsack, Matthews and Trujillo (TJ). I wished I'd have spent more time on that ship. Pretty laid back compared to the 2 Nucs I've been on since then. I still have the ol' FL I rode back when I was stationed onboard. Just finishing a frame up custom restoration on it now. I have a couple pics of it posted in my profile on this website. Anyway, small world. Good hearing from an old shipmate. Take care. GO NAVY!!

I was only on board for about a year and it was too long for me! After being on the Blue Ridge the Praire was a rust bucket. Carp & Pierce were good people. The only thing I liked about that boat were the people on board. Do you remember OM2 Johnny Kabis? Johnny and I became best of friends. We even got our hogs at the same time. I'm sorry to say he died last december from a brain tumor. He was one hell of a guy.
