| Re: For the veterans New here but did my stint too. USAF 1973-1994 retired Master Sargeant with tours at Eilson in Alaska, Maxwell in Alabama, Randolph in San Anotnio. And some 8 1/2 years in Germany with various side trips to Egypt, Morocco, Italy, Israel and any other corner of the Med you can think of. Specialty started as a glorified radio tech (NAV AIDS). Eventually went to SATCOM and found my way to Germany with the 1st Combat Communications Group. Best time I had in the service. SUset tour ended up being the White House Communications Agency in DC. Worked for Bush 41 for three years until THEY showed up. Gave them a month before I got fed up, put in my papers and retired. Now I'm one of those infamous Beltway Bandits (DC Contractors) trying hard to suck even more cash from Uncle Sugar! |

Sounds like you went in a bit after I got out of active. If you could, tell me a bit about the benefits of retiring from the "new army". When I was in we got a promise of 50% of base pay after 20 for highest rank, plus additional $ for any disability you could scam. Then they also promised 100% medical for you and your family and commisary acess just to name a few benefits. Oh yea, I almost forgot, what is this HOOAHHH bullshit that the army is using. We used to think the Marines were a bunch of retards, yelling OOOORAHHH! all the time, now the army has their own version of it. No disrespect, I did a whole bunch of time in the green machine myself, just wondering. OBTW, congrats on your retirement. ![]() AP AP |
