Outseam Deer Skin Riding Gloves - Fox Creek Leather

Fox Creek Leather - Outseam Deer Skin gloves.

Dear skin gloves are pretty common these days. They are popular for riding because they are soft, abrasion resistant and look good. U.S. deerskin is superior to cowhide in comfort, protection & utility. The reason most gloves are made of cowhide is because over 90% of motorcycle gloves (including Harley-Davidsons) are made in China and Pakistan where labor is dirt cheap and deerskin is not readily available.

What do you do to improve on something that is already quite good?

You focus on the details. In this case the details are the glove seams. Seams can make or brake the comfort of a glove. Poorly designed seams will be uncomfortable and can cause more damage in case of an accident. Fox Creek Leather has addressed this issue by creating the Outseam Deer Skin Glove. What are Outseams? Seams are constructed by placing the edges of the material together, face outwards, and using different stitches to sew them together. Both edges show. The edges are then sewn with a Prickseam which produces a neat strong lock stitch. Gloves made with outseam construction are more comfortable because there are no heavy seams against the hand.

The glove is created using a Gunn Cut which is extra comfortable because there are no back seams. The palm side of the middle two fingers is a separate part of the glove pattern, and is sewn to the palm at the base of the middle two fingers. In full leather and leather palm styles, this seam is reinforced with a welt that gives additional resistance to wear in this critical area. The thumb is a Wing Thumb no seams on the wearing surface so thumbs move freely and comfortably.

Are these gloves comfortable?
A resounding YES!! these are the softest gloves I have ever worn. No seams, just soft deer skin.

Are these gloves good looking?
Eh.. Not so. The seams on the outside make the gloves look a bit funny.

What would these gloves be best for?
Summer riding. These are lightweight, nice looking comfortable gloves that would be at home on the long haul.

So if you are looking for a different spin on the deer skin gloves you should try Fox Creek Leathers Out Seam deer skin gloves. Well priced high quality American made gloves that will make a great addition to your riding gear.
