It is now the 3rd largest fire in Calif. history...200,000 acres...hwy 33 is closed...fire 75% contained...

The Zaca fire is now the second largest in California history and still going strong at over 220,000 acres burned. Still has about 50,000 acres to get to number one.

Firefighters are doing back fires on 33. You can now drive to the first watercrossing on Paradise rd.(on the way to Red Rock)...
Looks like this fire is heading for #1...On a positive note...this will really help our deer population...which is hurting...

Alot of the deer around here spend a lot of time by farmers fields because the land is so overgrown they can barely walk around...
The is going to be a bunch of grass for deer to eat for years...Got a Weatherby .308 superlite just begging for a deer...

Yep. There is a big alfalfa field on 154 west of the Cachuma entrance that regularly has 30 or 40 deer grazing. Too close to the farmer for a Weatherby. Every time I pass there, I'm thinking how nice it would be to have a crossbow....

I know those deer well...I know people who own and work large ranches in the back country...
They spend a lot of time patroling and actually protecting the deer which hang out on private property from poachers...
While doing this they are running into illegals growing marijuana...I hear they are now ALL carrying guns on patrol...
I heard some of the fire fighters report they were seeing good numbers of deer in the fire area...
