Re: HD buys MV Augusta / Cagiva

If one of the two would pull out the stops they could corner the market on big trallie/ADV bikes which has become a huge world wide market screeming for real bikes other than the pile of yuppie shit BMW GS. Hopefully they dont screw this one up and take out HD with them, time will tell.

Re: HD buys MV Augusta / Cagiva

I saw something in the air a while back with the new Buell motor.
H-D used to have their own line of EyeTie bikes years ago. They were made by a company called Aermacci. HD dropped the line in the 70's. I think they were taken over by Cagiva back in the 90's.
These are the same people that took over Husqvarn and a few others.
Maybe this will be a good thing for H-D, I would imagine that the MV Cagiva factories have a lot of good things in the development area, stuff that HD will incorporate into their future models.

Re: HD buys MV Augusta / Cagiva

Hey AP,
Hows the trip back east?? A person could spend hours reading up on the problem prone history of Guzzi,Ducati,Cagiva,Agusta,Bimoto, and the likes and how they have gone up and down in financial problems, family issues etc. Theres lots of lust for performance there no doubt which is far from HD`s desire to stay the same moreless as its riders prefer to high tech everything.. Being much of its in the V twin area the potential for some pretty interesting bikes could happen. Look back at what Carl Foggerty did with a dated Ducati V twin against the cutting edge Jap buzz saw bikes.
I will always have a air cooled V twin in the garage but its days are numbered with EPA regs etc, time to bring in the new.

Re: HD buys MV Augusta / Cagiva

Hey dynaratt,
The Arkansas trip was good, still scratching chigger bites tho.
I used to go desert riding with a guy back in the 70's that rode a 450 Ducati.
Comparing it to other 4-500 cc 4 strokes, it was a heavy dangerous slug. My old BSA 441Victor would run circles around it.
I have also ridden a late model Monster. Ducati seems to know what they are doing these days.
I am hoping HD is going to do good things with their new acquisition.
